Yard Sale and Flea Market Finds for the Classroom

Good morning, friends! One of my favorite warm weather activities is to visit our local flea markets and yard sales in search of treasure. I decorate with rustic/antique treasures, so I'm always looking for those things and along the way I usually find some things for my classroom as well!
I always look for books at the flea markets and yard sales! Here is my haul from this summer. Some of these I got for as little as 5 cents each!! I couldn't believe what a deal I was getting. I even got 2 hardback copies of the Guinness Book of World Records for $1 each!

I was driving by a yard sale one Saturday morning and stopped just for this chair! It was love at first sight and for only $5 it is definitely my best find this summer!

What do you like to shop for at flea markets and yard sales? What is your all time best classroom find?

  1. What great finds! I have better luck buying from the local library (25 cents each) than from yard sales. Love your chair!

  2. I've been on the hunt for a straw dispenser so that I can turn it into the "pencil machine." Like this here...http://www.etsy.com/listing/94380891/old-straw-dispenser-turned-into-a-pencil

  3. The kids will love that chair! Definitely the steal of the century right there! You may to do a rotation because it's going to be very popular! You're definitely quite the savvy shopper - great job on all your awesome finds!

For books, I buy from our library used sales mostly. Most books are around a $1 each but they are in excellent condition usually and usually high interest books they just have high volumes of due to popularity at the time or an author's visit/book of the month promotion. Best of luck on your library! (Don't think you need!)

  5. Love the chair. I have one similar in my class that one of my podmates just gave me. Maybe because I used to go plop in it in her room every day!
